73 days and counting. It’s all coming together, but not one thing/room is yet finished.
The bathroom has been problematic. I have to accept some responsibility as my approach to planning is somewhat loose. I had measured and marked out the location for the new sanitary ware on the old tiled walls. Once they were gone so was the plan, although the builder did take photos but seems didn’t share with the plumber.
I’m trying to fit a bath and separate shower in a space where the RSPCA would be called if you tried to swing a cat, so accurate spacing is vital.
The tilers came and did their thing. I’m very pleased with the floor tiles with a nod to retro but sons think it’s a disturbing pattern. I’ve gone for a dark grey grout, which hopefully means much less grout scrubbing in my future.

The sink is in and it’s true what the experts say about how a wall-hung vanity unit gives the impression of space.
I love this toilet, all smooth lines and no awkward spaces to get into for cleaning. When you’re the only female in the family, you don’t want your nose millimetres away from the pan. It’s the toilet that’s caused the problems. Because I wanted seamless lines and the joists run in the opposite direction to the soil pipe, the solution was to run the pipe under the kitchen ceiling and box it in where the utility cupboard will be situated, which meant measurements had to be spot on. We are on the third attempt and second set of plumbers… The new chap is here on Saturday and may need more than Red Bull – I’ll report back.
For now, here is the long shot of progress to date. Don’t be fooled by the toilet, it’s not fitted (yet)

Next time you see the bathroom, it’ll be Instagram worthy 🙂
