I wanted to say ‘fork to fork’ but this is no-dig, so that would be taking artistic licence a little too far.
Anyhow, everything on the plate came from the plot which makes me feel very satisfied.
The salad is a mix of rocket, sugar snap peas, calabrese, broad beans and french beans. I lightly boiled them, refreshed in cold water and tossed in some olive oil, lemon juice and a sprinkle of sumac. The potato salad is first early Wilja.
How are you using your harvests just now?
I love these meals where everything is home-grown! We are harvesting salad leaves, spring onions, cucumbers, beetroot and potatoes, and are a few days away from peas…
What is sumac?
My harvest is strawberries, strawberries and strawberries at the moment. So, we’re making lots of people happy with a tub of them and I’m stocking up our shelves with next year’s preserves 😊.
I’ve only recently discovered sumac. It’s a ground red berry, found around the Middle East. It adds a lemony flavour to dishes and is yummy. Have a look in the supermarket spice section.
Thanks, Sharon.
That looks and sounds delicious. My harvests are raspberries and strawberries which I’m enjoying as they are. xx
