One of the many things I enjoy about blogging is sharing and trying out new ideas and recipes. Some work and some don’t.
This recipe for a chocolate yogurt cake definitely worked and well worth adding to my collection. It’s easy to follow, uses readily available ingredients (I had everything in the cupboard/fridge) and it’s adaptable (I didn’t have quiet enough chocolate, so added a tablespoon of cocoa powder)
The original recipe was provided by Claire over at Smallholding dreams, complete with lovely photos.
I was un-nerved by the still gooey consistency after 45 mins cooking, so gave it another 20 mins in 10 minute bursts. Next time, I’ll be braver and trust the recipe.
I’m still finishing off the Christmas sweets but this is going on the list to try!
You won’t regret it
It looks delicious! Will definitely have to give it a go. Thank you for sharing it. 🙂
Looks great – I think leaving it to cool in the tin helps it firm up a bit.
The boys want frosting on the next one, so I’ll experiment with timings. After 45 mins it wobbled like a custard. That can’t be right😳
Oh, that is wobbly – to be honest I rarely look at the clock for timings – I tend to check the cake itself so I can’t honestly say if it was 45 minutes or if it was longer – the book said 45! Frosting on it would be amazing – would it still count as a healthy breakfast then though?
Frosting wouldn’t tick the healthy box but 20 year olds with hollow legs don’t consider that.Would be good for a 3pm sugar fix and a cup of tea when there is a really long paper to be read or (worse) written. Still not healthy, but sometimes necessary.
That looks and sounds delicious. xx
cake at 3pm doesn’t have to be as healthy as breakfast cake so I think it would be brilliant to have it then with frosting on – what kind are you thinking of making?
Only chocolate will meet with their approval
