The bees love, truly, madly, deeply, these alliums. These purple globes were a hive (!) of activity at the weekend; the word was out that there was good stuff to be had at the base of these tiny flowers.
I’ve never been able to photograph a bee at work, they seem rather camera shy around these parts but they were so busy with the allium nectar they forgot all about me…
What are you growing that’s attracting bees this month?

Gorgeous colours and forms. I adore alliums.
Totally agree – just stunning architecture
Raspberries! I don’t have many things flowering right now but the raspberries are full of bees. The californian poppies are about to flower too, I need to work on my flower growing…
Nice post and pictures. My plot is always buzzing with honey bees as a nearby plot holder keeps hives. At the moment they’re all over the perennial cornflowers and raspberries. xx
Thanks, that’s very generous
I planted two Globemaster Alliums in the fall. They are beautiful right now but I haven’t seen any bees on them yet. Does it take a few years for insects to find them?
Maybe they need to find them. Thinking about it, my allium patch has had more bees this year than last.
