How much of the colour purple do you see on an average allotment? Until a few weeks ago, the answer would be my hands; blue and purple with cold plus contrasting red nose!
Then the broccoli decided to do it’s thing and throw out purple shoots. It does seem that this year has been a shorter than usual season; I’ve been picking since mid February and it is starting to come to an end.
Perhaps I need to be more observant, but I’ve only just begun to appreciate the intricacy of each purple bud.
What I do appreciate and look forward to their too short season each year are the tulips. I grow them for the vase, so I had no guilt in picking them! I’m very pleased with these purple ones (variety forgotten) they have an amazing depth of colour.
