My last update from the polytunnel was June 2020. Much has happened since; a house move with a larger garden, a new allotment and dream of dreams, the greenhouse and polytunnel at the bottom of the garden.

I’ve down-sized the tunnel, it is now an 8×12. This is sufficient for my needs and before the 10×20 at the allotment, I thought that a very good size.

I’m still organising the growing spaces, this being the first full year of home garden production. I sowed parsley, coriander, spinach and rocket in October and they are revving up growth. Excuse the garden centre bargains waiting to be planted out.

The scabious is impatient to move outside; the lone broad bean is also keen to get its roots settled.

The new peony tubers show promise – these will move to plot next month.

I thought this peach tree had succumbed to the heat and too little water in 2022 but it revived last year and so it made the journey to the new house in the front foot well! Both trees spent most of last year outside, coming inside in November so it will be interesting to see how they are affected by leaf curl.

And to end an interior shot – before the greenhouse opened for business. The fleece is covering the dahlia tubers – most are holding up well and I’ll pot them up next month.

It feels good to have the growing space up and running again. See you next month when it will be much more organised in there!
