Hopefully not too late to join in this week. I have a valid excuse; a very dear friend was married this weekend, which involved much laughing, crying and dancing.
This vase is all about the dahlia (again) I had hoped to include some scabious in shades of pink but the lack of support has them growing in a very kinky manner.

I’ve been giving the pink/lilac dahlia (lost label cohort) the side-eye most of the summer. She seemed a bit insipid and probably better suited to the compost heap, but then I noticed how the centre is the same green/yellow as the other white dahlias and the pink tipped petals a good match for the cosmos and anemones in the garden.

The pinky lilac one can stay.
Thanks to Cathy for hosting this meme. You can visit and view the vases here.

Those dahlias are stunning in color and form. I love how you let them float in your arrangement.
Thanks Donna
Sounds like a great weekend, Sharon! It is refreshing to have a pale arrangement like this in October, so we can pretend that it isn’t really Autumn yet! The wishy washy dahlia looks like one I tried a few years ago but wasn’t impressed – but it dried so well, as the contrasts were emphasised once the blooms had shrunk, and I still have them now. They were used in a Monday vase too, here https://ramblinginthegarden.wordpress.com/2023/01/23/in-a-vase-on-monday-cut-and-dried-2/
I’ve never considered drying the dahlias. Something for next year, it’s been too soggy this year I think to dry successfully.
I had never heard of it until Gardeners World one year – they just seem to dry naturally in a vase, shrinking to about hald their size, but reatining their colour. I can’t remember the detail, but it’s probably best if they are not fully open when they are picked. I just leave them in the vase until the they seem to be fully dry, then take them out of the water and hang them up or put them in a spare vase out of the way somewhere
The way you described your scabious are growing at a kinky angle got me smiling. So please you enjoyed the wedding festivities. The Dahlia is quite charming.
Oh, I really like the combination! And the foliage really sets it off, too. My Dahlias haven’t performed well for a couple of years, so I really appreciate seeing them on other blogs. I think I need to purchase a new pack of tubers. Love them!

Thanks Beth. Most of these tubers are 2+ years old. I lift and store them each year. I was very disappointed with the size and quality of tubers I ordered this year – from the same previously excellent suppliers.
Some arrangements just seem to come together by magic! The combination is very pretty, Sharon.
