I grew these rudbeckias from seed because they are robust and most likely to cope with sandy clay soil. I really didn’t give much thought to what I’d actually do with 12 flowering plants!
As luck sometimes goes, the potomac orange antirrhinum is having a second flush and the dark dahlias (nuit d’ete, karma choc and verdanne’s obsidian) have responded well to the recent high temperatures. It turns out they are excellent vase partners for the rudbeckias.
It’s the floral equivalent of a bonfire.
Check out Cathy’s vase with tones of red and burgundy.

Stunning!
Smoke and fire seems to be a theme this week! I love Rudbeckias, even if they’re only annuals in my climate. Your dark dahlias are quite dramatic too.

Oh what a bountiful vase, Sharon, and those ‘free’ rudbeckias are such a great colour! I had no success with Prairie Glow this year, but these blooms look much bigger than PG. I am trying to establish my favourite antirrinums for future years, and your ‘orange’ ones certainly make a subtle impact – great to have a second flush this year, as my white ones are doing too.
Ooh, I love these deep rich colours! 🤩
Gorgeous colours and arrangements! 😃
Love all the sunflowery blooms!
